Hackers port Siri to older iPhones

Barely had Apple's new iPhone 4S hit the stores when hackers started working to get one of its biggest features ported to older Apple devices. The hackers claimed Saturday (Manila time) that Siri, the voice-activated personal assistant for the new iPhone 4S, may be ported to older devices like the iPhone 4. "Excellent news. Siri is not just compiled specifically for the A5 (s5l8940x) processor," one hacker, iH8sn0w, said in a Twitter post. Siri is the voice-activated personal assistant that uses artificial intelligence to adapt to their owners and understand verbal commands from them. An article on Cydiahelp.com said this may allow the jailbreak community to eventually come up with a way to install and enable Siri on the iPhone 4. "The progress looks like to be going great. iH8sn0w has confirmed on his Twitter that Siri feature is not made for A5 devices only. In other words, it can be ported on A4 devices too," it said. A separate article on CNET said hackers initially managed to get Siri running on an iPod Touch, but minus most of its functionality. — TJD, GMA News
