Firewall Builder With GUI 5.1.0.3599
Posted Mar 29, 2012
Site fwbuilder.org

Firewall Builder consists of a GUI and set of policy compilers for various firewall platforms. It helps users maintain a database of objects and allows policy editing using simple drag-and-drop operations. The GUI and policy compilers are completely independent, which provides for a consistent abstract model and the same GUI for different firewall platforms. It currently supports iptables, ipfilter, ipfw, OpenBSD pf, Cisco PIX and FWSM, and Cisco routers access lists.

Changes: Packages for Windows and Mac OS X are now distributed under the GPL, and the source code includes all files necessary to build on Linux, *BSD, Windows, and Mac OS X. This release also includes a few bugfixes in the policy compiler for iptables and for the build problem on Gentoo.

libdvdcss 1.2.11
Posted Nov 16, 2011
Site videolan.org

libdvdcss is a cross-platform library for transparent DVD device access with on-the-fly CSS decryption. It currently runs under Linux, FreeBSD, NetBSD, OpenBSD, BSD/OS, Solaris, BeOS, Win95/Win98, Win2k/WinXP, MacOS X, HP-UX, QNX, and OS/2. It is used by libdvdread and most DVD players such as VLC because of its portability and because, unlike similar libraries, it does not require your DVD drive to be region locked.

Changes: This release improves RPC-II drive handling and contains a more robust keys retrieval mode. It also introduces fixes for MingW and OS/2 compilation, and has various bugfixes for small issues, memory leaks, crashes, and build issues.

Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2011-153

Authored by Mandriva | Site mandriva.com

Mandriva Linux Security Advisory 2011-153 - The LZW decompressor in the BufCompressedFill function in fontfile/decompress.c in X.Org libXfont before 1.4.4 and compress/compress.c in 4.3BSD, as used in zopen.c in OpenBSD before 3.8, FreeBSD, NetBSD, FreeType 2.1.9, and other products, does not properly handle code words that are absent from the decompression table when encountered, which allows context-dependent attackers to trigger an infinite loop or a heap-based buffer overflow, and possibly execute arbitrary code, via a crafted compressed stream, a related issue to and CVE-2011-2896. The updated packages have been patched to correct this issue.

OpenSSH 5.9p1
Posted Sep 6, 2011
Authored by Damien Miller | Site openssh.com

This is a Linux/portable port of OpenBSD's excellent OpenSSH. OpenSSH is based on the last free version of Tatu Ylonen's SSH with all patent-encumbered algorithms removed, all known security bugs fixed, new features reintroduced, and many other clean-ups.

Changes: This release added experimental sandboxing of network-facing code during the pre-authentication phase and SHA2-based HMAC modes for the SSH transport. sshd now sends logs from the privilege-separated process via a pipe, eliminating the need for /var/empty/dev/log. There were many more bugfixes and changes.

Support for the configuration of bridge and VLAN interfaces and static routes on FreeBSD was added, and it is now possible to generate configuration in the format of rc.conf files. The latest versions of Cisco ASA software are now supported, including the new command syntax for NAT commands in ASA 8.3. The speed of rule compilation has been improved, and is especially noticeable on very large data files.

Kismet Wireless Network Sniffer 2011-01-R1
Posted Jan 19, 2011
Authored by Mike Kershaw | Site kismetwireless.net

Kismet is an 802.11 layer 2 wireless network sniffer. It can sniff 802.11b, 802.11a, and 802.11g traffic. It is capable of sniffing using almost any wireless card supported in Linux, which currently divide into cards handled by libpcap and the Linux-Wireless extensions (such as Cisco Aironet), and cards supported by the Wlan-NG project which use the Prism/2 chipset (such as Linksys, Dlink, and Zoom). Besides Linux, Kismet also supports FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Mac OS X systems. Features Multiple packet capture sources, Runtime network sorting by AP MAC address (bssid), IP block detection via ARP and DHCP packet dissection, Cisco product detection via CDP, Ethereal and tcpdump compatible file logging, Airsnort-compatible "interesting" (cryptographically weak) logging, Secure SUID behavior, GPS devices and wireless devices fingerprinting. Kismet also includes a tool called gpsmap that can be used to create maps from logged GPS data.

Changes: GPS logging was added in PPI pcap files. A Ruby network API was added. Several Ruby clients were added, including a network card performance shootout tool. WPA migration mode detection was added. Initial minimal zigbee/802.15.4 plugin support was implemented. Packaging helper scripts were written. Per-capture source per-network signal tracking was added. 802.11d handling, client preferences, mac80211 card configuration, and XML logging were fixed.

Critical bugfixes include improved support for Windows systems that use PuTTY sessions and configuration of IP broadcast addresses on interfaces. Fixes related to cluster configurations include support for import of branching rules when a cluster is created and generating NAT rules that require the iptables REDIRECT target.
