DESCRIPTION:
Two vulnerabilities have been reported in IBM Tivoli Storage Manager
(TSM) Client, which can be exploited by malicious people to disclose
sensitive information or potentially compromise a vulnerable system.
1) A boundary error within the Client Acceptor Daemon (CAD) can be
exploited to cause a buffer overflow.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code.
2) An unspecified error when using server-initiated prompted
scheduling can be exploited to e.g. gain access to the client's
data.
The vulnerabilities are reported in versions 5.1, 5.2, 5.3, and 5.4
and reportedly affect the following client interfaces:
* The Web client GUI, which uses the CAD
* Backup-Archive client scheduling using the CAD (CAD-managed
scheduling)
* Backup-Archive server-initiated prompted scheduling
SOLUTION:
Apply client update packages.
