IMPACT:
Privilege escalation, System access

SOFTWARE:
Rosiello Rpm Finder (rpf) 1.x
http://secunia.com/product/4453/

DESCRIPTION:
Two vulnerabilities have been reported in Rpm Finder, which can be
exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's system and by
malicious, local users to perform certain actions with escalated
privileges.

1) A boundary error in the "web()" function when handling data from a
remote server can be exploited to cause a stack-based buffer overflow
by tricking a user into connecting to a malicious web server.

2) Insecure creation of files can be exploited via symlink attacks to
truncate arbitrary files with the privileges of the user running rpf.

The vulnerabilities have been reported in version 1.2.2. Other
versions may also be affected.

SOLUTION:
Update to version 1.2.3.
