DESCRIPTION:
Justin C. Klein Keane has discovered two vulnerabilities in
Transmission, which can be exploited by malicious people to conduct
script insertion attacks.
Input passed via the "comment" and "created by" fields in an imported
torrent file when viewing with the web client Inspector is not
properly sanitised before being used. This can be exploited to insert
arbitrary HTML and script code, which will be executed in a user's
browser session in context of an affected site when the malicious
data is being viewed.
Successful exploitation requires the web client to be enabled
(disabled by default).
The vulnerabilities are reported in versions prior to 2.61 and
confirmed in version 2.05.
SOLUTION:
Update to version 2.61.
