DESCRIPTION:
Debian has issued an update for cvs. This fixes a vulnerability,
which can be exploited by malicious people to compromise a user's
system.
The vulnerability is caused due to a boundary error within the
"proxy_connect()" function (src/client.c) when reading the HTTP
version response from a proxy server and can be exploited to cause a
heap-based buffer overflow.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code, but
requires tricking the user into connecting to a malicious proxy
server.
SOLUTION:
Apply updated packages via the apt-get package manager.
PROVIDED AND/OR DISCOVERED BY:
Petr Sklenar in a Red Hat bug.
