DESCRIPTION:
Core Security Technologies has reported a vulnerability in Microsoft
Office Publisher 2007, which can be exploited by malicious people to
compromise a user's system.
The vulnerability is caused due to an error in the pubconv.dll
library when inserting content into a document. This can be exploited
to cause a stack-based buffer overflow via a specially crafted ".pub"
file.
Successful exploitation may allow execution of arbitrary code, but
requires tricking a user into inserting a malicious file into a
document.
The vulnerability is reported in version 12.0.6546.5000. Other
versions may also be affected.
SOLUTION:
Do not use content from untrusted sources.
