AdSuck DNS Server 2.0
Posted Feb 8, 2011
Authored by Marco Peereboom | Site peereboom.us

adsuck is a small DNS server that spoofs blacklisted addresses and forwards all other queries. The idea is to be able to prevent connections to undesirable sites such as ad servers, crawlers, etc. It can be used locally, for the road warrior, or on the network perimeter in order to protect local machines from malicious sites.

Changes: Caching capability was added. libevent is now used in order to speed up processing.

Packet Fence 2.0.1
Posted Jan 28, 2011
Site packetfence.org

PacketFence is a network access control (NAC) system. It is actively maintained and has been deployed in numerous large-scale institutions. It can be used to effectively secure networks, from small to very large heterogeneous networks. PacketFence provides NAC-oriented features such as registration of new network devices, detection of abnormal network activities including from remote snort sensors, isolation of problematic devices, remediation through a captive portal, and registration-based and scheduled vulnerability scans.

Changes: New hardware support (Xirrus and Exitricom) and improvements to SSID information gathering. Important bugfixes were also made: fixes for issues with VLAN re-evaluation, better IP resolution with IP-Helpers, pfdhcplistener is less prone to crashing, and installation and configuration scripts are more robust.

Haveged 1.1
Posted Jan 13, 2011
Site issihosts.com

haveged is a daemon that feeds the /dev/random pool on Linux using an adaptation of the HArdware Volatile Entropy Gathering and Expansion algorithm invented at IRISA. The algorithm is self-tuning on machines with cpuid support, and has been tested in both 32-bit and 64-bit environments. The tarball uses the GNU build mechanism, and includes self test targets and a spec file for those who want to build an RPM.

Changes: The HAVEGE implementation has been improved to better stand up to aggressive compiler optimization and the code has also been reorganized to more cleanly separate the algorithm from its Linux harness. The result is more portable (at least to the point where a proof of concept builds and runs in a pure MSFT environment) and may be of interest to those outside of the usual Linux/gcc environment.

Chaosmap 1.2
Posted Jan 1, 2011
Authored by Bastian Ballmann | Site datenterrorist.de

Chaosmap is an information gathering tool and dns / whois / web server scanner written in Python. It can be used to lookup DNS names with a dictionary with or without using a salt. Salting for DNS means it will append numbers from 1-9 to the name in the dictionary with or without a - and _ or a leading 0. Salting for Web stuff will try double slashes and some directory traversal tricks. You can do reverse dns lookups of a whole ip range (with optional whois lookup) or make a dictionary scan for hidden paths on one webserver or a range of ip addresses. Optionally you can encode the path with url encoding and with google dict lookup mode chaosmap will first try to find the path on Google and only query the webserver if google has no search result. Last but not least it can be used to extract email addresses from domains using a Google search.

Changes: One can now specify a list of dictionaries and domains. Google hacks query mode. More dictionaries.

HOTP Toolkit 1.0.1
Posted Dec 28, 2010
Site nongnu.org

The HOTP Toolkit package contains tools that are useful when deploying the one-time password HOTP technology. It contains a shared library, a command-line tool to generate and validate one-time passwords, and a PAM module (pam_hotp) to make system login or SSH use HOTP one-time passwords for authentication.

Changes: In libhotp, the usersfile logic for '-' passwords now works. A build failure due to a missing sys/stat.h include on FreeBSD 7.2 was fixed. A PDF format GTK-DOC manual was included. Gnulib files were updated. The project is in the process of being renamed to OATH Toolkit in order to make room for OATH TOTP/OCRA in addition to OATH HOTP.
